PHOENIX — A man in a mobility scooter died Wednesday after a car collided with him while he crossed a central Phoenix street.

The crash happened near 7th Street and Dunlap Avenue around 8:30 a.m.

Officers said the 47-year-old man was crossing 7th Street when a Chevrolet Impala that was heading north careened into him.

The victim, identified as James Gray, was rushed to a hospital where he died.
